Ad 1) Hirsch V, 643/4: DMB, 2002/3: ' ... he went to Leiden where he was inscribed on 13 sept. 1728, and graduated MD privately on 22 August 1730 with a thesis on the clitoris 'De Nympha' ... in 1748 he inoculated his eldest son against small-pox - allegedly the first inoculation in Holland.': Eloy IV, 435/7: V.d. Aa VI, 69/70: Lindeboom, Ned. T. v. Geneeskunde, Jrg. 36 (1956), pp. 49-56: According to Lindeboom Boerhaave suggested Theodore Tronchin as his successor to the board of Curators of Leiden University. Tronchin, born 1709, studied medicine in Cambridge and became acquainted with the work of Boerhaave, whereupon he went to Leiden in 1728 to finish his education. Tronchin, enrolled 13 september 1728. Already in 1730, during the second rectorate of Boerhaave, he defended his thesis "1730, 22 Augustus, Theodorus Tronchin, Genevensis, privatim disputavit de nympha, et a magnif. Rectore Boerhaavio medicinae doctor dictus est.". Lindeboom continues (in transl.) 'The thesis seems to have been printed in 1730, probably in a very small edition; I have not been able to see it myself...'. : Comp.
